How I lost 2.5kgs without going to the gym

I can hardly believe how fast time has gone. When I look at my calendar and see that I am to be married in only 4 short months, I am filled with excitement and fear. I cannot wait for the big day but I still have so many things to do, and that includes losing those extra kilos. With my first dressing fitting scheduled for next week, the pressure is on!

In theory it seems like an easy thing to do. But when you are a full-time mum like me, juggling a blog with a partner who works offshore, it seems impossible. Where do you get the time to go to the gym? That is why I went on a mission to find a solution. Being a firm lover of yoga and zumba, I used to feel bummed that I could never get to a class. If you enjoy what you are doing, then chances are you will stick to it and get better results. So I decided to bring the classes to me.

After a bit of research online, I found some perfect videos that I could use at home, that were long enough to actually make a difference, but short enough for me to be able to fit into my busy day. My aim was to do at least 30 minutes a day. I could easily fit 30 minutes in during one of bubs naps or after he had gone to bed. I just had to push myself to do it and so far I have lost 2.5 Kgs doing these classes, along with a healthy diet.

Class one ( or maybe I should say three) : Zumba Slimparty  

A Zumba dvd with easy to do yet high intensity zumba classes. What is brilliant about this is that they have a quick 20 minute workout for those who do not have much time, followed by a 30 minute latin workout and a 50 minute one for when you are really motivated. It also comes with a quick start guide to teach you the steps used in each video.

I downloaded this from iTunes so that I could play it direct on my TV using Apple TV, but you can buy the dvd if you don’t have apple tv (link is at the bottom). I have been using these workouts for 2 weeks now and can already feel a huge difference. I couldn’t even get through the first 10 minutes when I first started, now I can do the 30 minute one until the end.

It gets you sweating and the class passes by quickly because it is so enjoyable. My son enjoys watching me do this too as he loves the music.

Class Two : Yoga by Sara Beth

Sara Beth is a yoga vlogger who has her own channel on youtube. She provides an extensive list of classes for all different levels and needs. Ranging from beginner classes, to weight loss and pregnancy yoga.

My favourite class is her 30 minute full body Cardi-yoga class. You really feel the burn with this class. I am always sore after the class as it targets muscles all over your body, some I didn’t even know existed! I feel like I am really toning my body with this class.

  • Yes, you can definitely do some work up at home and save time. To do it on regular basis is the keyword and one can’t really find excuses if the work out is done at home.
